The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 schedule was announced on Friday. The Men in Blue will take on Pakistan in their first match of the tournament on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Men's T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13 and will be played in seven venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart and Perth.


 

A total of 45 matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, with the same national footprint at the postponed 2020 event.

In the first round, the 2014 champions Sri Lanka and Namibia will play the opening match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday, October 16 at Kardinia Park in Geelong. They joined Group A with two qualifiers. The two-time champions also start in the first round, joining Scotland in Group B and two qualifiers in Hobart.

In the Super 12, hosts Australia are world number one in Group 1, England, New Zealand, Afghanistan Plus Group A winner and runners-up in Group B from the first round. In Group 2, India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh are the Group B winners and runners-up from the first round of Group-A.

The hosts and defending champions will play New Zealand in the Super 12 opening match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 Final on Saturday, October 22 at the SCG in Australia. The Black Caps will face England at The Gabba on November 1 in a re-match of their Epic semi-final encounter at the 2021 event.

The two biggest rivals in world cricket will meet on Sunday, October 23 at the MCG in India. It comes just before the first World Cup clash between the two nations and two other fierce rivals in the MCG. , Australia and England meet on Friday, October 28 in the same venue.

The state-of-the-art Perth Stadium will host a huge double header against India on Sunday in the match against South Africa on Sunday evening, October 30th. Earlier, Pakistan will face runners-up from Group A.

Adelaide Oval, The Gabba, Kardinia Park Stadium, Bellerive Oval, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Perth Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground are the seven venues to host the matches.

The semi-finals will take place on November 9 and 10 at the SCG and the Adelaide Oval, respectively. The final will be played on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground under floodlights.

Defending champions Australia and runners-up New Zealand and the top teams after England, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Afghanistan and Bangladesh advanced directly to the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

Although Sri Lanka, West Indies, Scotland and Namibia qualify, they start the event in the first round. The remaining four places in 2022 will be replaced by an ongoing qualification pathway, ending with two global qualifying tournaments in early 2022.
